This book is a tribute to my father who has spent the second half of his life researching lotus flowers. I have never been interested in flowers, but an incident changed my way of seeing flowers forever. My father had two major heart attacks in a very short time in 2008. The very next day, his book How to Grow the Lotus at Home was published. I placed a few copies of the book next to his pillow before I left to the US. When I opened his book, I saw many different kinds of Lotus photos, all taken by my father. I felt as if I were looking at those beautiful Lotus flowers through my father's eyes. His book inspired me to "grow" a lotus flower at my home (far away from my father's home)-but in my own artistic way. My book is about a kind of lotus Nelumbo Nucifera that is known as Indian Lotus, or Sacred lotus. My work focused on the "sacredness" of this flower historically, culturally, and spiritually rather than on the scientific facts that describe it.
