A sterling silver tie bar by the acclaimed silversmith company, Georg Jensen. The piece was designed for Jensen by Danish jewellery designer Harald Nielsen. Nielsen was the younger brother of Jensen's third wife and was encouraged into joining the company despite showing early promise as a painter. He joined as an apprentice chaser in 1909 and worked his way up to designer/director of the smithy school of apprentices. In 1954, he became the smithy director and in 1958 he became artistic director of the Company, a position he held until 1962. The sterling silver tie slide is fully signed Jensen, with the post 1945 mark. It has the model reference number '64' on the rear and comes in the original Jensen box. Made in Denmark, circa 1950's.
